Julija Castellucci
Julija Castellucci avoids stable definitions, working through gestures that interrupt, address and activate. Her practice unfolds across situations, actions and performative signals, using primarily voice and sound, alongside text, without allowing them to settle into a medium.
Rather than producing works, she transmits messages. Whether through public-scale imagery, performative acts, or even the architecture of an interview, these gestures set conditions for response, testing how communication can exist outside the scripts of social convention. Humor and provocation are not effects but tools, yet beneath their clarity runs a quieter register, a sustained attention to what is fragile, overlooked or easily dismissed, through which her work maintains an unexpectedly intimate tone.
Castellucci moves between institutional, collaborative, and everyday contexts without fully belonging to either. Her work resists capture, remaining unstable in form, in meaning, and in identity, which she treats as something to be continuously constructed, performed and undone.
